Houghton, Michigan – Michigan Tech was ranked 19th in this week’s AVCA Division II Coaches Poll. The 19th ranking is the highest ranking for a Husky dog since 1996. Black and Gold ranked 23rd in 2022 preseason voting, and in 2021 he finished 22nd.
The Huskies started the 2022 season 4-0 at the Otter Invitational at their Monterey Bay, California campus last weekend. Tech swept Cal Poly Pomona, Academy of Art, Cal State Dominguez Hills and host CSUMB. Jillian Kuizenga was named her MVP of the tournament for averaging 3.25 kills per set and .265. Lina Espejo-Ramirez and Carissa Beyer were also named to her All-Tournament squad.
The Huskies will travel to Parkside tournaments this weekend, facing Upper Iowa and McKendry on Friday and Illinois Springfield and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday.
