The final Grand Slam on the tennis calendar is underway and will mark the end of an era. In the run-up to the tournament, Serena her Williams hinted that the US Open would be the last tournament of her career. Serena won her first-round match on Monday and will face second-seeded Estonian Annette her Kontaveit on Wednesday night under the lights of her stadium, Arthur Ashe.Scheduled match start time 7 PM ET (4 PM PST) on ESPN.
On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal won the first round and is aiming for his third major title of the year and the 23rd title of his career. Nadal won the Australian Open and French Open earlier this year, but had to miss Wimbledon because of his abdominal injury. He hasn’t played much since then, but he won’t have to contend with Novak Djokovic at the US Open. Daniil Medvedev is the top seed after winning his first Grand Slam title in New York last year. After Serena’s fight is over, Medvedev will play his second round at Arthur Ashe tonight.
