The final Grand Slam on the tennis calendar kicks off Monday in Flushing, NY, marking the end of an era. Serena Williams has hinted that the US Open will be the last tournament of her career as she won her staggering 23 major titles. Serena will face Danka Kovinic in the first round on Monday. Venus Williams also made a wild card entry. Igaswiatek entered the tournament as the top her seed, while defending her champion Emara Dukanu was seeded No. 11, one rank ahead of rising American superstar Coco Gauff.
On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal is looking to win his third major title this year and the 23rd major title of his career. Nadal won the Australian Open and French Open earlier this year, but had to miss Wimbledon due to an abdominal injury. No need to fight Djokovic. Daniil Medvedev is the top seed after winning his first Grand Slam title in New York last year.
