“Mitchell Swepson was unlucky to be sidelined at the last World Cup in the UAE based on conditions. I was planning on spinning wickets.
“Tim (David) continues to establish himself with several quality performances in leagues around the world and has earned his place in the team. There is and adds striking depth to a group that has had a lot of success in T20 cricket lately.
“We expect him to play a role similar to what he’s played in the last few years.”
As reported by ageDavid represents Australia to pay for the match as an out-of-contract freelancer, giving him the freedom to play short format leagues abroad.
The T20 Globetrotter is on the verge of joining the list of stellar cricketers headlined by David Warner to debut in Australia before playing first-class cricket.

“It was only a few seasons ago that he was struggling to get games in the Perth Scorchers lineup. Amazing.
“He has done well in almost every tournament he has played around the world in the last 12-18 months.
“He’s clearly one of the players we’re very excited about. With his consistency and game-winning ability, I think he’ll have a chance to take a little more responsibility in the Hurricanes’ batting lineup this season. I don’t want to waste it, I don’t want him to sit on the sidelines for too long.
“He’s a very good, very dangerous T20 player and I’m sure Australian selectors have been thinking long and hard for the T20 World Cup in a few months.
“If I were a selector, I would love to have someone like that on my team…he is a total winner.
“He actually reminds me a bit of Andrew Simmons at the 2003 World Cup.
“I know Australia has some great world-class players in the middle order, but perhaps no one in the last two years boasts a resume as good as Tim.”
Ahead of Lancashire’s semi-final against Yorkshire in the T20 Blast, David said he would love the opportunity to help Australia defend its title at home in the T20 World Cup, but he may not have a place in the starting line-up. XI at this stage.
“International cricket is another beast,” he said in July.
“They won the World Cup eight months ago and the team hasn’t changed since.
“They’ve been playing in Australia for a long time, and if I had the chance to be part of them, I’d be thrilled, really excited.
“To be honest, I don’t really think about it… I just want to improve and have fun. If I get there or I’m by your side at the time, that’s great.
