Nicki Minaj hasn’t been to the VMAs in years, but the show she gave us just made up for it all lost time. The rapper kicked off the show giving her BIG Barbie tingz energy, covered in everything from his hair to his shoelaces in pink, and then a hologram of a literal pink panther later showed up.
The iconic rapper contributed some of the verses on “Beez in the Trap,” “Moment 4 Lyfe,” “Super Bass,” and “that,” “Monster,” and we’ve taken a trip down memory lane too.

She won the 2022 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year, so it’s no surprise that Nicki delivered such a bomb performance. This is really BFD. Similarly, Madonna, Janet Jackson, J.Lo, and Missy Elliott have all previously won honors, as have David Bowie and The Beatles. Casual!
In addition to the highly prestigious awards she’s already set to take home, Nicki has also been nominated for her single “Do you have a problem?” in the Best Hip-Hop category. plus! She’s also one of her three hosts for the night, along with Jack Harlow and LL Cool J.so expect greatness (as if you weren’t yet).
It’s hard to believe Nicki has been a headlining VMA for 12 years. She attended and performed at her VMAs for the first time in 2010 and won her first Moonperson Award in 2011 for her “Super Bass.” So was in 2011 when our good sister was coming to a show wearing something like this:
