NFC South Showdown Week 3 2022 NFL Season.
The New Orleans Saints travel to North Carolina to face the Carolina Panthers at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bank of America Stadium
The Panthers enter this game winless, this time after suffering a painful loss to the New York Giants. The defense was stagnant as Sac-On held Barkley to his 72 yards and sacked Daniel Jones his three times. Baker Mayfield completed 14 of 29 throws for 145 yards and a touchdown, and the Panthers offense converted only 2 of 12 thirddowns. Mayfield needs to produce for this team to go anywhere.
The New Orleans Saints are 1-1 after losing 20-10 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2. Jameis Winston threw her three interceptions in the 4th quarter and that’s all she wrote. Winston continues to look for big plays rather than short, easy routes, and so do the Saints. Hopefully, he one of these quarterbacks can produce his full four quarters this weekend.

Several teams in the NFL had a lot to look forward to at the start of the season, but what many didn’t expect was the Carolina Panthers going 0-2 by the end of Week 2. That was it.
FOX Sports Betting Analyst Warren Sharp:
Baker Mayfield was down 33% early in the first three quarters. This is his fourth-highest blitz percentage in the NFL this year.
And he’s the 10th highest percentage (36%) under pressure.
In early down, when Mayfield was blitzed, he ranked 20th in EPA/att (-0.09).
But when not blitzed, he ranks 11th in EPA/att (+0.11).
And Baker has long had a major breakup, with and without pressure. 2020 and beyond:
Against pressure: -0.62 EPA/attack, 25% success, 5.8 YPA
No pressure: +0.27 EPA/attack, 51% success, 7.6 YPA
Unlike years past, this Saints defense is simply not under pressure. Nor are they electrifying.
New Orleans blazes with just 8% of QB drops ranked No. 30.
And they are under pressure 9.9% of the time, which is the lowest in the NFL (average = 30%).
Last week, the Bucks played without multiple offensive line starters and multiple starting receivers. And playing at home, the Saints had the lowest percentage of pressure in the NFL.
If this holds up and the Saints struggle to put pressure on Mayfield and can’t blitz as often as they used to, it would be a big change for Mayfield.
In Week 1, Mayfield played against his old team, the Browns.
They rank sixth in pressure percentage this season, recording pressure at 36% of their opponents’ dropbacks and have a league-average blitz percentage.
In Week 2, Mayfield faced the Giants.
He’s ranked fifth in blitz percentage this season (37%) and has recorded pressure at a rate of 27%.
Mayfield has been hit hard and under a lot of pressure in his first two games with the Panthers.
Now, is he playing at home against a team with a 32nd pressure rate and a 30th blitz rate?
This is certainly not an easy defense to counter, but there are ways to imagine Mayfield performing slightly better without the pressure. , which should host the defense of the 31st-ranked Cardinals and offer the Panthers, or possibly one last chance to sacrifice Matt Rule’s job. Bucks, Rams, 49ers.
