An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 On the Richter scale that struck near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday, according to the National Center for Seismology.
“Magnitude: 6.1 earthquake occurred on 29 August 2022, 08:59:15 IST, Latitude: -0.97, Longitude: 98.68, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 566 km SW of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia”, The National Center and Seismology said in a statement.
The quake, with an epicenter 566 km southwest of Kuala Lumpur and a depth of 10 km, occurred at around 8:59 am today. Latitude was -0.97 and longitude was 98.68.
Earlier, at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday, an earthquake struck off the southwest coast of Sumatra, the island closest to Bengkulu, South Sumatra, and Lampung province.

The epicenter was at sea about 64 kilometers from the coast.
However, casualties and damage were not immediately reported by authorities.
