“Small businesses are a great way to contribute and make an impact in the world you live in.” Nicole Snow

We wrap up last week’s column by continuing to think about the small business approach and the steps you can take to be successful. Most of my readers agree that having a business coach is a great help in planning and executing a hassle-free business start-up and achieving continued success when the business is fully established. In some cases, a business person may need more than one business coach as the business progresses.
Last week we discussed the importance of timely execution of writing, discussion and decisions. Business people should get into the habit of reading books and looking for information about their industry. After presenting the business plan to the bankers, how many of you have revisited the business plan? I suspect many business people will not revisit the business plan because they are not involved in the process. As a result, there is no commitment to work within the framework of the document. This can be a missed opportunity.
Entering a business should not be a hasty decision. If you don’t set up a mastermind group, you should think twice and talk to as many of your closest friends, family and associates as possible. Sharing ideas can prevent many mistakes and provide valuable information.
One of the failures in achieving any level of success in the small business sector is the failure of business people to get together, share ideas and do business together. There are some simple ones such as certain bulk products for retail, and co-imports of raw and packaging materials for manufacturing. The slogan of unity is a strength we all know, but few people try to put into practice. If you have an idea, don’t share it with anyone because someone could take your idea and implement it and steal your dreams. There is another situation where no one opens their business to others.
Partnerships are rarely pursued and almost always end abruptly whenever an attempt is made. There is something wrong with most small business mindsets. While unloading he passed in front of a 20/40ft container and there was certainly more than one importer involved in the shipment. You still don’t understand that there is enough for everyone if you plan your business properly and make an informed decision regarding the level of investment required and market size.
The time has come for successful business people to take their time and share real business experiences with members of the small business sector by hosting meetings in various commercial districts across the island. , Vieux Fort came into the limelight for several good reasons. Business club started. Members of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Philippe J. Pierre, held the City Hall at Vieux Fort. The Honorable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, Congressional Representative of Vieux Fort South, was a hospitable host. Something else quietly happened. Inactive Southern Business Association (SBA) members have been busy in the WhatsApp chat room demanding action from executive members and convening a meeting of the association as soon as possible. The real problem will be dealt with in another column.
I would have loved to touch on the Democrats’ victories in the United States over the past few days, but space does not allow me to do so. I prayed for a breakthrough for President Joe Biden. Age is just a number and his approval ratings used to languish, but now he’s breaking through the clouds at 41%. The country we continue to focus on is the United States. I promise to follow the latest developments next week.
Stay healthy, stay safe. blessing!
