A sense of helplessness? It looks like there may be power outages in many places around the world in the future. A grid outage is more than just an inconvenience. Incidents like this can be very costly and can even be a balance between life and death.
Just a few hours without electricity can be frustrating. Again, going without power for a few weeks or longer can dramatically change a person’s outlook on life.
Personally, I believe that reducing bureaucratic controls, allowing more fossil fuel production, and realistically reducing concerns about the long-term effects of climate change will make many of the projected future blackouts easier. I believe it can be counteracted by
Rather than keep talking about the forces of nature, I would like to talk about the supernatural powers available to all of humanity.
Some religions and beliefs place great emphasis on the supernatural powers they say are available to those who follow the mystical methods of their own theological premises. The power of the is misdirected on what it can do personally to its followers.
Christianity takes a completely different approach to the power available to all followers of Christ. Before Christ came to earth 2,000 years ago, the Spirit of God frequently came upon certain men and women who were called by God to work for His glory.
One of the best known accounts is Samson’s life in Judges 13-16. As long as the Holy Spirit was with him, Samson could accomplish great deeds. Without the Spirit he was powerless.
In the first chapter of 1 Samuel, Hannah is introduced to the miraculous birth of her first son. After her weaning, she obediently left Samuel to serve Eli, the high priest of the temple.
As a boy, the Holy Spirit came upon him and remained with him for the rest of his life. This final judge of Israel was powerfully used by God. And through this prophet and priest we see the hand of God in the lives of the first two kings of Israel.
1 Samuel 15 shows King Saul’s disobedience and the Holy Spirit’s departure from his presence and God’s final rejection of him as king. Then, in Samuel 16, we witness David, a shepherd boy, the youngest of Jesse’s sons, being chosen by God and anointed by Samuel as the future king of Israel.
The Holy Spirit rested on David for the rest of his long and prosperous life. King David is often described as “a man after the heart of God.”
In this Age of Grace we live in now, the Holy Spirit has a new role in the lives of every believer. Since the Feast of Pentecost, fifty days after Jesus was crucified, the Holy Spirit has been used to reveal those who have been called to Him.
This miraculous conversion has taken place in the lives of millions since that eventful day. And it will continue to happen until his imminent glorious return.
In the meantime, we are here to proclaim his sovereignty and share the good news of his death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to heaven.
Perhaps you have never faced the truth presented in the Gospel accounts. If not, sit back and read the Book of John from beginning to end.
The Holy Spirit is available with the power to change your life forever!
