A former teacher who has gone through lockdown has revealed the chilling ways classrooms are preparing for the new school year.
Elisabeth Galewski, who taught for 12 years, told The US Sun EXCLUSIVELY that teaching has now become one of those jobs where “you have to be prepared to sacrifice your life.”

She recalled the suspect driving students into a corner when he was on the school grounds.
Galewski told the US Sun that there was a “person of interest with a weapon in the building” and her classroom was full of students.
She said she was trained to lock the door, turn off the lights, and make the classroom look empty.
“I gather the students in a corner out of sight of any windows and encourage them to be quiet,” Galewski said.

“The hope is that the active shooter will believe the room is empty and move on.
“When you’re a teacher, you know you might face an active shooter one day. You visualized the scene perfectly and planned what to do.
“This is something I do over and over in my head every time I get news of another school shooting.”
Everytown For Gun Safety is a gun control and anti-gun violence nonprofit that has tracked school shootings since its founding in 2013.
In August, the nonprofit released a report that said it had seen the most school shootings since 2021-2022 when schools began keeping records.
According to the report, at least 113 shootings occurred on school grounds, killing 41 people and injuring 82 others.
“There are very few jobs where I’m willing to sacrifice my life to sign a contract,” said Galewski, who left teaching after the 2020-2021 school year.
“Teachers today are one of those jobs, which is one reason why schools in the United States are having trouble finding and hiring teachers.”
bulletproof desk and bookshelf
The increase in school shootings has necessitated innovative ways to protect students and teachers, such as bulletproof bookshelves and desks.
Todd Drummond and his son started a company called Defend Our Children. This company has created individual bulletproof desks that allow students to hide inside their desks.
After working in law enforcement for 20 years, Drummond was a resource officer at the Armed Forces School during the Parkland, Fla. school shooting, and his son Donald has a 12-year background in military tactics. .
A desk called the Safe Space Security Device allows students to use their desks as ballistic shields to protect themselves from handguns.
“They then enter the secure space security inside the desk and rotate the security door closed. The cycle is complete to evacuate in place,” Drummond said.

“Within seconds, they become invisible and protected.”
With these desks, the classroom looks empty, as Galewski explained.
