Traveling parents no longer have to worry about where to store their newborn’s milk as long as they stay at a Kimpton hotel.
In a press release shared with parade, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants This month, we announced the launch of our on-demand home refrigerator program. By providing guests with “Mini Me Milk Fridges”, the aim is to help traveling parents to store enough breast milk.
The new program was launched in response to insufficient travel accommodations for families with small children, according to a release.
According to Kimpton, the travel and hotel industry has historically failed to meet the needs of breastfeeding guests because it failed to provide adequate refrigeration options for breast milk.
“Traditional hotel in-room refrigerators do not reach the right temperature to safely store breast milk, so Kimpton needed to create a product that would reduce stress among guests and provide an in-room solution. I thought about it,” the company said in a release.
Kimpton’s Mini Me Milk Refrigerator is available upon request at the front desk of over 70 Kimpton properties. A refrigerator will be delivered directly to your room “as a complimentary service to reduce the stress associated with family travel.”

Kimpton explained that the refrigerator is compact and “especially suited to maintaining the proper temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit (according to the CDC) for storing cold milk.”
This should help reassure parents and provide extra space in the fridge for snacks. This is the new standard in child-friendly travel.
The company also revealed that it has upgraded accommodations for employees who may be breastfeeding. Each facility will be provided with its own refrigerator for use by crew members who need to express milk during working hours, allowing them to store breast milk safely and privately.
