All-Star Tony Gonsolin was placed on the 15-day injured list after hurting his right forearm on Monday. The Dodgers right-hander leads the National League with his 16-1 record. Gonsolin also has his best WHIP in the NL (0.865) and the best average in Major League Baseball (.169) this season.
In addition to posting a career best, Gonsolin has taken on more work this season than he has in his four-year career. He has pitched his 128⅓ innings so far. That’s more than double the number of innings he’s pitched in any other season so far (he pitched 55⅔ innings in 2021).
Gonsolin told reporters on Monday that he felt a nagging strain in his forearm but passed strength and ligament tests. We hope he will be back before the season ends on the 5th. Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reported.
Monday’s news isn’t the only bad injury news the Dodgers have suffered in recent weeks. Walker Buehler underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career, the team announced on his August 23rd.

Los Angeles holds a 19.5-game lead in the NL West and a 7.5-game lead in the NL’s top spot going into Monday.
