Clemson faces the ACC opponent for the third time in four seasons, and Georgia Tech for the second time in the same period.
The Tigers will travel to Atlanta on Monday night to face the Yellow Jackets at the Mercedes-Benz Dome. Sophomore linebacker Barrett Carter thinks Clemson has an opportunity to make a statement in the season opener.
“I think it’s a statement game,” Carter told reporters Wednesday. It should be exciting. I’m excited to see the bullets start flying against them.
After a 4-3 start a season ago, Carter argued the Tigers have a better reputation for winning, and much effort will be put into getting off to a better start in 2022. has been paid.
“We all understand how hard it is to win games, and that’s what we preached throughout the offseason,” Carter said. To be successful, you have to do hard things.”
Preparing for success also includes preparing to face adversity that may present itself head-on. Carter argues that the Tigers can and will overcome.

“We are going to face adversity, but we have to overcome it,” said Carter.
Clemson enters the season needing to replace both James Skarski and Bairon Spector midway through that defense. Trenton Simpson moves to WILL and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Keith Maguire share duties at MIKE. After backing up Simpson in his SAM last season, Carter will take over as the starter at that all-important spot.
Having to replace so much experience is by no means ideal, but Carter is confident the Tigers have the right players in place to make the transition as smooth as possible and is looking forward to 2022. He points out that the position will undoubtedly demonstrate speed and athleticism.
“They’re going to see a lot of speed and versatility, athleticism and a lot of plays. A lot of sacks and interceptions,” Carter said with a laugh. will see.”
The Tigers are currently at +1800 on the moneyline, according to Fanduel.
