Set 1 (Government wins 25-20): Austin Pea State University started the season with a 5-1 run and a wire-to-wire victory. Powell, Jada Clarke, and Tegan Sailing each got 3 kills and 13 kills.
Set 2 (Louisiana Tech won 25-22): Louisiana Tech came out of the gate earlier in the second set, leading 7-4 by three points. Austin Pea State fought back, holding the set 12–12 with him tied, and the team eventually battled with his changes to a draw in the 11th inning and he led in the sixth. The final draw was 22-22 before Louisiana Tech scored the final three points of the set. Powell scored 6 kills to lead his 15-kill performance for the APSU Govs, but LTU in sets he had 17 kills and a .342 offensive percentage.
Set 3 (Government wins 25-18): The third set was nearly identical to the first, with Austin Pea State taking an early lead and winning. Louisiana Tech forced his two draws very early on, but her 4-0 APSU run on Sadie Edmonston’s serve broke the set. Austin Pea State returned to a balanced offense with Powell, Brinton and Clark each scoring three kills.
Set 4 (Government wins 25-17): Early on, it was a battle royal with Govs and Lady Techsters battling for the opening of 26 points with 10 draws and 9 lead changes. However, the APSU Govs scored her 10th straight point and Kelsey Mead blew the game out on the service line. Powell made no errors on the fourth and scored four kills on eight attempts. Brinton had five more kills as Gabs won the match.
